Max-Planck-Institute for Solar System Research & Berlin Institute of Technology
Germany

Professor Dr. Joerg Buechner graduated about quantum non-demolition measurement of gravitational wave signals at the Moscow Lomossov State University. He received his Dr. of Sciences (Habilitation) degree in astrophysics when he was visiting professor for problems in nonlinear space physics at the UCLA (Los Angeles)in 1990. Prof. Buechner is currently at the Center for Astronomy and Astrophysics of the Berlin Institute of Technology as well as at the Max-Planck-Institute for Solar System Research in Göttingen, Germany, keeps visiting and honorary Professorships at several International Universities. His recent research interest is the solution of the key open questions of space - and astrophysical plasmaenergization as it is observed from the Sun through the heliosphere and beyond.Aiming at an understandingof the underlying strongly non-linear processes, turbulence and magnetic reconnection, he is utilizing the opportunities of numerical simulations on advanced supercomputers.
