Isaac Gathu is a pioneering force in space advocacy and analog research in Africa. As the President and Founder of Mars Society Kenya, he is at the forefront of advancing space exploration, spearheading OASEAS (Onmi-Africa Space Exploration Analog Simulation); Kenya’s first private Analog Simulation Habitat and Research Station, and pioneering a new era in the advancement of Space Science and Exploration in Kenya and Africa as a whole during the World’s Biggest Analog (WBA) 2025 Competition. His work integrates innovation, sustainability, and education, creating pathways for Africa’s role in space science. Beyond research, Isaac is a passionate speaker and STEM educator, engaging global audiences on space settlement - particularly those of Mars, spinoff technology, and space policy. He has collaborated with institutions like the Kenya Space Agency and international space organizations, bridging science and culture to inspire the next generation. From establishing OASEAS as a Research Station for space technology to capturing global attention by documenting his work and passion through the 'Kenyan on Mars' documentary featured on Al Jazeera's Africa Direct, Isaac is shaping the future of space innovation on the continent. Whether on stage or in the field, he delivers thought-provoking insights on the challenges and opportunities of interplanetary exploration.
